It may be redundant, but make sure that the VNX1 is at the latest release (32.218) - each release has changes that hopefully helps with java issues. For my daily work I've decided to stay on 1.7.51 - it works for both VNX1 and VNX2 and the older CX arrays in our lab (with some issues with Microsoft Lync chat that puts a certificate on my PC that interferes with going to the setup page - I have to cancal each popup when I try to access the setup page).

Need more information - which client are you referring to - Unisphere Client? Java? Which version are you attempting to install? What is the version of Flare running on your array?
Yes - the Client - but what "version" of JAVA and what version on Client? Different releases have different requirements and the Java version used is also depend on the Client version.
The latest Unisphere Client (33.155) requires either:
Oracle Standard Edition 1.7 up to Update 75
Oracle Standard Edition 1.8 up to Update 25
The 32-bit JRE is required, even on 64 bit systems.
I am trying to install the latest Unisphere Client (I guess it is 33.155--if that is the latest) and I am using Java 7.80. However, after I download the client, I get a 'unable to create file' when I try to install. This is very frustrating.
I just downloaded and installed the latest Client - UnisphereClient-Win-32-x86-en_US-1.3.9.1.0155-1.exe - I had no issues. I also am running 32-bit Java 1.7.051. I've experienced no issues with this setup.

I only spin up the image as-needed, and it hasn't raised my risk assessment from tools like Nessus and Nexspose. They don't like the fact that I keep these old versions of Java around, but they accept this as a fact of life when running hardware that's over seven years old.
You might see if something similar is allowed by your security team.

The Client installs on a Windows PC - when you start it it will start up a browser session using Java. This allows you to connect to an array. You can also add the Client to the domain if you want, but I think you need to Unisphere Server package for that to work - have not tried that.

I just downloaded and installed the latest Client - UnisphereClient-Win-32-x86-en_US-1.3.9.1.0155-1.exe - I had no issues. I also am running 32-bit Java 1.7.051. I've experienced no issues with this setup.

Installation (though long) went well and I was able to get rid of Java 7! Faster login it seems. Still does not work in IE11.
