Navisphere only uses the LUN numbers that are assigned by the array - it does not use the LUN name that is changeable - so there is not check for duplicate "names" and no restriction on duplicate names.

This can become a problem when you are building MetaLUNs. For this reason we specifically change the name on our MetaLUNs to start with "Meta".

Normally we don't rely on LUN names, but it is nice to keep as close a match as possible with the reality of the underlying LUN number.

Exactly! Duplicate source lun names will also be a problem for admsnap, especially when you have multiple snap sessions on the same host. You have to feed admsnap device names, but in order to do that correctly you need to know the relationships to source luns.
