How to create Windows shares?
Hello,
We have a newly installed NAS 40 system. I can create folders and copy files to it just fine. However, I do not see a way to create Windows shares. Right clicking on the folder does not give me a share option. I do not have any tools installed on my Win2K PC. Can I download any tools? If so, where and what? Needless to say, I don't have any training in EMC management. This device will have only a few shares and is pretty much reserved for one department. Technically, I am admin of the device, but need some more info to manage it properly. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

most likely you're using a security context that is not part of the Administrator group. happens easily
just connect to the Celerra like \\ and specify connect as with a valid domain user that is part of the Administrators group.
then open mmc and add the shared folders plugin, then connect to the Celerra CIFS server IP address.
Unfortunately this mmc plugin doesnt ask for a user name - it just uses an existing credential or tries some. So in some cases its best to map a share from the server so you have a defined security context
