mmc Manage Computer connect using IP

Question

Hi, I've setup a standalone server on an NSX and i do use the Windows mmc to manage that server. When connecting the mmc to the CIFS server using his NETBIOS name, everythings work correctly but when connection using its IP address the 'Local Users and Groups' part will not work. When using the IP the 'Local users and Groups' item stays with a red cross on top and it is not available for management. Have you seen this before ? Any Idea? We would like to use the IP address since we wouldn't be dependant on the WINS server. Thanks for any hint

I've seen that before and I think it sometimes does work using the IP address

what you could do is either add the CIFS server name to DNS (should actually be automatically done by the Celerra with dynamic DNS)
or create a local lmhosts file on the Windows client where mmc is ran from (see c:\WinNT\system32\drivers\etc\lmhosts)
