ClipId - 64bytes or 53 bytes

Hi guys,

I am refering to the document: 069001185_a08_elccnt_0.pdf (API Reference Guid of Centera SDK Version 3.2) which states under FPClip_Write that the ClipId is 64 bytes.

"This function writes the content of a C-Clip to the pool as a CDF and

returns the C-Clip ID (Content Address). This address is 64 bytes."

The given example shows: 42L0M726P04T2e7QU2445E81QBK7QU2445E81QBK42L0M726P04T2 - which is about 53bytes.

On another thread inside the forum (https://community.emc.com/message/542684#542684) I read about 53bytes.

As you can see I am fairly new to this stuff and am unsure about what is the correct answer - 53 or 64 bytes.

To give you some idea about what I am trying to do: I need to check wheter a given address is a valid clip id or - valid equals well-formed (53 bytes and just letters and numbers or some sort of that). Is there a valid regex around?

Thanks for helping,

kind regards,

Marcus

Hi

We reserve the right to change the size of the content address at any point in the future up to 65 bytes.  There are two lengths that can be encountered 27 and 53 depending on the naming scheme but you need to be able to accept 64byte string (64+null)
