Migrating off FileNet onto custom app using Centera XAM API - viewing tiffs

We would like to move off FileNet and replace it with a custom solution leveraging the Centera XAM SDK.

We have encountered a problem while doing our preliminary analysis.

We store FileNet images directly onto EMC Centera.

It appears FileNet adds some header/footer information into the FileNet FOB.

When we retrieve directly, we cannot view the document (TIFF, DOC, XLS, etc)  We are able to view PDFS even though there is additional header information.

My questions circle around the ability to view these documents in a timely fashion:

1)  Is there any viewer that can be used to render these FOB's if we do not have FileNet

2)  Is there a way to modify the binary itself (ie strip out some fixed length of data)

I think the only supported way to do this is have Filenet migrate out you content for your new application to then reingest it to the Centera.

Filenets' file format are probably propriatery and they may not disclose them.

You cannot modify the blobs on the Centera without creating a new version of the blob.
