Hi Aleksandr,

I think you should open a case with EMC support on this.  Might there have been any changes to the SMTP server?  Usually when it is working and then stops it is because the SMTP server starts rejecting the email (SMTP upgrade, new policies enacted, etc,).  EMC can pull the SMTP mail log on the node that sends the email and that will show if the email server accepts the email or not.  You might be able to check the configured SMTP server using telnet on your PC.  Maybe the SMTP server address changed.

telnet 25     <-- don't forget the space + "25"  - this tells telnet to use port 25 to communicate

then type the following:

helo 1

MAIL FROM:

RCPT TO:

DATA

Subject: Test email

                                                <-- blank line

.                                               <-- enter a period (".")

quit                                            <-- type quit to exit

Example:

C:\> telnet xx.xx.xx.xx 25

220 xxxx.xxxx.com Microsoft ESMTP MAIL Service, Version: 6.0.3790.4675 ready at  Wed, 19 Jan 2011 12:10:07 -0600
helo 1
250 xxxxx.xxxx.com Hello [10.10.10.10]
MAIL FROM:
ConnectEMC@emc.com
250 2.1.0 ConnectEMC@emc.com....Sender OK
RCPT TO:
xxxxx@emc.com
250 2.1.5 xxxxx@emc.com
DATA
354 Start mail input; end with .
Subject: Test email

.
250 2.6.0 <
xxxx1XvpFVjCRG00000014@xxxx.xxxx.com> Queued mail for delivery
quit
221 2.0.0 xxxx.xxxx.com Service closing transmission channel

If you see the message "Queued mail for delivery" then the SMTP server accepted the email.  Keep in mind that the SMTP server can still think the email is SPAM or something and not send it on but this means that the problem is with the SMTP server.  If the SMTP server reports "unable to relay for sender" or "invalid address" then you should discuss the problem with your email team.

Regards,

John

If you are still not getting daily health reports then you should open a case with EMC.
