For the fastest resolution to what you are needing would be to reach out to the Compellent Co-Pilot team. You can get in contact with them at 866-397-8673. They will be able to assist you and answer your questions about Compellent and Active Directory.
Found a way to login using AD credentials. When debug was enabled logs like these were created:
[WebServiceAuthentication] Distinguished name is CN=myname,OU=1234,OU=1234,OU=1234,DC=1234,DC=1234 and baseDn is DC=1234,DC=1234
(1234 replaces our OU/DC names)
[WebServiceAuthentication] Failed to login (exception) : javax.security.auth.login.LoginException: Group membership missing
I deleted all manually added AD-users in EM. Created a dedicated goup in our AD, and joined the AD-users.
In EM I then added the newly created group only.
On an other computer I startetd the EM client and selected "use windows credentials".
It worked now.
But this user needs to connect to each StorageCenter again.
And, if the user logs in the first time, it is automatically added as Administrator in EM.
And I tested to add the AD-group, than add its members additionally as users in EM. But if you log in EM then using ad credentials, a duplicate of the user is created in EM.

I had similar problems - there are some known problems with AD integration - Co-pilot has raised case against development.

I have the same problem. This AD integration option seems unfunctional.
