question about 8GB line card

Hello,

Our directors and edge switches are currently at 4.2(7b). Old, I know, however, it has been hard to get outages. We need to install an 8GB line card into the directors to allow for ARRAY - Director zoning at 8GB. The model number is a DS-x9224-96K9. I was told the code level on the card is 5.2.2d. We would like to upgrade, however, we have a month or so of host remedial work to do before we can upgrade the fabric to that level. Does the code level on the card matter if the fabric is running on 4.2(7b). Can the firmware on the card be back leveled so that we can take advantage of the 8GB before upgrading the entire fabric. Our new array is on the floor and we should be starting the installation process next week.

Many thanks!

originalally i have these modules in my 9513

  Model number is DS-X9224-96K9

  H/W version is 1.1

I am currently running 4.2(7d).  One year after the initial install we bought 3 more modules and i don't even know what firmware they came with but H/W version was different:

Module12  ok

Module type is : 1/2/4/8 Gbps 24-Port FC Module

  1 submodules are present

  Model number is DS-X9224-96K9

  H/W version is 1.4

  Part Number is 73-11932-05

  Part Revision is A0

Manufacture Date is Year 15 Week 30

  Serial number is JAFXXXXXXXXX

  CLEI code is COUIAVRCAD

Module13  ok

Module type is : 1/2/4/8 Gbps 24-Port FC Module

  1 submodules are present

  Model number is DS-X9224-96K9

  H/W version is 1.3

  Part Number is 73-11932-04

  Part Revision is A0

Manufacture Date is Year 14 Week 32

  Serial number is JAFXXXXXXXX

  CLEI code is COUIAVRCAD

i popped them in and they came up without any issues. These are gen 3 cards that should be supported by 4.1 and higher.
