Order verification

I just ordered a laptop online and got an email saying that my order was put on hold until the order verification department can check my credit card information.  They gave me a 1800 to call them, but I've been on hold literally for four hours... I can't leave a message with my phone number to be called back because I am currently outside of the US.  Is there anyone even working at this order verification department?  The email they sent me says that my order will be cancelled in 24 hours unless I contact this department.  It's almost like Dell doesn't want me to purchase from them...
