Max iscsi MB/s question
Im trying to trouble shoot a speed issue with my dell iscsi san with a backup application. Can someone tell me if this statement is correct?
If your SAN is iSCSI then the best you can ever expect to see is 20MBs. IP over GB copper will see about 35-40MBs MAX. iSCSI's overhead limits it's ability to utilize all of the available bandwidth in a GB connection. The performance you are seeing is expected for an iSCSI based SAN. Using an iSCSI HBA may improve performance slighlty.
Im a liitle confused as I can do a test with IOmeter and it shows that I can obtain around 80M-110MB/s which contradicts the above statement

The storage solution also plays a role. On the AX100 and 150 I think I've seen speeds (copying a single large file) of between 30 and 50 MB/s.

well i can get that speed with ESX server hooked up via iscsi.. i just threw out iometer because thats a common util many know.
the answer from dell has to do with the program being a single threaded app. Ill post the complete answer from dell later. Also my server 2003 was single threaded also and that why im seeing these numbers copying back and forth.
