DD OS 5.4.1.1
Hello, I am new to DD. I inherited 5 DDs (2 dd880s and 3 dd860s). Currently they are all at a very old version of 5.1.0.5. I want to upgrade to the latest version 5.4.1. Is this version stable now? Should I wait for 5.4.1.1 to be released. Is there anyway to find out when 5.4.1.1 will be released?

5.4.1.1 isn't GA yet, its really a DA version or in old DD terms RA version. If your Organization is only accepting of General Availability (GA) versions, then don't go to this version... 5.4.0.8 is pretty stable, however you will want to be sure to check if there are any BUGS related to backup applications, such as DD Boost with Avamar or any other flavor backup application version. Your best bet is to call DD Support to check on the latest recommended versions. Be sure you tell them about your whole environment instead of asking only about the latest DDOS GA version...

Brad,
It's GA now. I also checked out 5.4.1.2 DA release notes and it fixes only 2 bugs, related to Avamar and multiple cronjobs. I have been running 5.4.1.1 on few machines and its solid release.
Check the release notes out. If you're running just DD without Avamar, 5.4.0.8 solid release also. Only "DD only" bug I catched with 5.4.0.8 was DDFS panic/restart episodes with replication if low bandwidth optimization was turned on.

I never use latest GA, but rater n-1. This way, if I update to n-1 and get some bug, I still can't jump to latest GA and be within GA world. With that said, each release tree usually gets some sub patches so you may wish to wait for those. How strict or paranoid you are entirely depends on how complex your environment is - when using more that single basic feature, chances are higher to get into some issue.
