Datadomain Expansion
Hi everyone
I am wondering if any of you have experience with expanding DD's with ES30 shelves with different disks...
So for example:
- DD2500 + ES30 with 2TB disks + ES30 with 3TB disks
I heard it is supported BUT not best practise to do so... any comment?
Thanks!

I don't have reference at the moment, but I believe this is supported (as long as you have different disks separated by different disk shelves of course).

hi!
watch out for the drive type. the first generation of es30 shelves have sata drives. these cant be mixed with es30 shelves with sas drives.
the dd2500 only supports shelves with sas drives and u can only use 2tb or 3tb disks.

Hi Andre,
yes. But you have to watchout for max capacity.
Question is why do you want to mix them?

Hi, so it's possible to mix ES30-45S and ES30-30S in the same DD2500?

Thanks EikePaape and Hrvoje Crvelin .
I found a document that confirm the possibility to mix shelfs 30 and 45
My customer has DD2500 with first shelf ES30-30 and asked to me about the options of expansion.

You can mix shelves, but you can't mix drives within shelf. I assume best approach is not to mix anything

Up to a maximum of 4 x 30-TB SAS shelves or 3 x 45-TB SAS shelves; up to 135 TB of raw capacity.
