avamar capacity forecast report

Is there any way to make a capacity forecast report for avamar?

Similar to the Dashboard on the Avamar Enterprise Manager site.

Hi,

Here are a few notes to be aware of for predictive reporting:

Predictive reporting requirements
Before a trend line can be generated, the following must be true:
       - There are at least 10 data points to predict from (for example, two weeks of existing data measured at 24 hour intervals gives 14 data points).
       - The predicted trend has a fitness score of 80% or more.
       - You are predicting more than a minute into the future.

Please note that the trending works on data present in the _graph_. It does not look at all historical data in the database in order to produce the trend.

The easiest way to have more data points plotted is to set an earlier start time of the report window. Another way is to open File->Preferences and increase the ‘Number of Points’ value. By default this is set to 25. This value has an effect whenever a report runs with a ‘User Interval’ time setting. For example, if you open the Media Usage Trend report in the Report Editor, then open the properties of the Media Usage data source, then view the ‘Times’ tab, you will see that it has an Interval Type of ‘User Interval’. So by default, this report will show 25 data points. If however half of the report window is in the future, then there will only be 12 or 13 _real_ data points. If most of the report window is in the future means there are very few data points.

I should also comment on trend ‘fitness’. There is a statistical analysis formula that calculates a series ‘fitness’. If this is below 80% then it will not plot. So for example, this report is ‘fit’ enough to plot a future trend, because the historical data follows a normal pattern.

This next report however will not trend as the data plots are too sporadic, leading to a poor data ‘fitness’

Hope that helps

I don't have the Dashboard on the Avamar Enterprise Manager available to me right now to see what it displays for Avamar capacity forecasts but would the reports when you right click the Avamar node and select Capacity Planning --> Backup show you what you want. You need to set a Time Window in the future to get forecasts for those reports. As well might be that the report under Resource Utilization ---> Backup --> Server Utilization might be helpful. For forecasting many of the reports mentioned above can be 'Predictive Reports'. For more information on Predictive reports reference the Data Protection Advisor 5.7 Report User Guide.

Daniel,

thanks the Resource Utilization is a great report.

But setting the windows to "Next 2 Months" does not yield any results.
