Dell OpenManage Enterprise Access to Operating System
Salutations Dell Community,
My organization is utilizing Dell OpenManage Enterprise 3.3 to manage our Dell servers. My Network Enterprise Center wants to know why I cannot install McAfee Security Software on the OME. I am under the impression that OME does not allow access to the underlying OS (CentOS 7). Is there any documentation that shows this to be the case or am I wrong and security software can be installed on this appliance?

Hello Marvin,
Correct, additional software, in this case McAfee Security, cannot be installed and the underlying operating system is not accessible. OpenManage Enterprise is meant to be deployed on another server as a VM, allowing for security outside that.
That's about all I know on why they have it set up in that manner, I don't want to speculate and misrepresent knowledge from the support side. We do have a few developers that post from time to time that may be able to expand on that, however. I can also share the manual for the appliance, but I'm not seeing anything addressing additional software in any manner.
