Discovery task cannot be saved.
Hi, can't add a device to Openmanage Enterprise, constantly receiving next message: "Discovery task cannot be saved." I am using Version 3.2.1 (Build 29) Does anyone know how to fix it? thank you.

Hello
I have been unable to reproduce this issue. Restart the appliance/VM and try again. If you still encounter issues check the user account to make sure it has administrator role, try with a local account if you are using active directory.
If you still have issues then provide steps to reproduce. Also, check the job details and provide that information.
Thanks

I tried to reproduce the steps you mentioned but i did not see the same problem you have described .
I have upgrade OME from 3.2 to 3.2.1 , then I have installed PowerPlugin and then un-installed the PowerPlugin and checked if I am able to create discovery task, i was able to create a discovery task successfully.
we always strongly recommend to take appliance snapshot before doing any upgrade or install and uninstall of appliance/plugins for recovery, if not please open a ticket with our support to assist you.

I've deployed fresh VM with 3.2.1 build 29 - the same problem.
ESX 6.5
Logged as local admin,
Monitor -> Discovery -> Create -> -> choose "server" and DELL iDrac -> fill in the form -> Finish and receive message "Discovery task cannot be saved". Jobs list is empty.
No one has this problem?

tested on newly installed ESX 6.7 u3 - the same "discovery task cannot be saved". Maybe someone from support can connect remotely and check or what logs shall I provide?

I found out what is wrong - description of the error...
What I receive - "Discovery task cannot be saved".
Why? Because OpenManage 3.2.1, unlike previous versions, thinks that I use weak password. But I receive "discovery task cannot be saved"... not logical. ok..
I have few more questions:
1. If openmanage cares about complexity of my passwords and probably waits that each server will have different (unique) strong passwords, how to add range of servers? Because I have to fill in login and password only one time in one place.
2. if iDRAC accepts my "weak" password, why openmanage doesn't do the same? Now, seems like I need to change root password for all my servers just to be able to upgrade to newer version of openmanage.
It's also strange for me that servers which were added in the old version works in new version (after openmanage update), but I can't add new server with the same password, as I use for other, already added servers.
And seems like description for error message should be more connected with the root cause.
thank you.

Can someone from Dell please tell me if there is a workaround for the strong password requirement when running Discovery in this new version. I think it utterly ludicrous to ask Dell customers to change their idrac passwords on all their machines!! We have almost 500 host in our environment.
