ESX4i in the system update are categorized as non-inventoried systems
ran the troubleshooting tool for WSMAN connection to the ESX4i servers
ran the following commands
/etc/init.d/wsman status
openwsmand is running
~ # /usr/lib/ext/dell/srvadmin/bin/dataeng status
dsm_sa_datamgrd (pid 6294 ) is running
dsm_sa_eventmgrd (pid 9719 ) is running
dsm_sa_snmpd (pid 9920 ) is running
the services are running and i can connect using my windows 7 machine to connect to the remoted node of omsa for all ESX4i servers
but the servers are still showing up as non-inventoried systems, anythoughts to why this is happening

Hi and thanks for the post.
Can you confirm you've followed the steps in the OME tutorial for ESXi?
Also, there is a video on www.delltechcenter.com/ome specifically for ESXi4 that may help.
Thanks,
Rob

Hi,
If you are talking about the non inventoried systems tab located under Manage->System Update, it is expected behavior for ESXi servers to be categorized there. OME currently does not support updating BIOS/firwmare on ESXi servers. That functionality is coming in the next release slated for Q3/Q4 this year. You should be able to see hardware inventory if you click on the server in the device tree and check the right hand side inventory pane.
