How do I remotely configure OMSA alerts via OME Remote task?

Hello,

I'm currently setting up the alerts action portion of OME and am not certain every server has the alerts function enabled within OMSA. Assume SNMP has already been setup via Windows and all servers health status are green. My questions are:

1. Is it required for the alerts to be turned on via OMSA for each server in order for OME to receive alerts from them?

2. Is there a way to turn on the alerts via a RACADM command through a OME remote task?

2b. If there is a way to do 2, are we able to select specific alerts to turn on and off?

Thanks

We also have a white paper available to configure the SNMP settings in the iDRAC through OME.

Hi, thanks for the query.

You can use Dell SNMP Configuration Tool to do this for server being managed through OS using OMSA. Here is the link for it:

en.community.dell.com/.../20097170

Please consider following responses to your specific questions:

#1 Yes. This setting is required on every managed server.

#2 You need to create a script with following RACADM commands:

iDRAC.SNMP.Alert.DestAddr
Description: IPv4, IPv6 or FQDN address of the target destination to receive alters.
Legal Values: Valid IPv4 or IPv6 or FQDN address
Default Value: • Index 1–4 — 0.0.0.0 • Index 5–8 — ::

iDRAC.SNMP.Alert.Enable
Description: Enables or disables SNMP alert for the given index.
Legal Values: • 0 — Disabled • 1 — Enabled
Default Value: Not Applicable

#3 This might not be possible.

Additionally, you can refer following white paper to configure alert settings on multiple iDRACs through OME:

Awesome. Thanks for both of your replies. Both are very informative and I will be trying out the script.
