How do I see an MD1000 in OME?
I have 10 MD1000 DAS units in my DC and would like to be able to see the drive health for these reported to OME.
Do I need to configure a discovery range that Enables PowerVault MD Array Discovery?
If so I am currently only discovering DRACs (iDRAC6) via DRAC IP on the servers that have the MD1000s attached. Do I need to install OpenManage onthese servers and discover via the servers IP to gain insight into the DAS units?
Do I need to download navisphere secure CLI or is that only for EqualLogic and MD3200 style storage devices?
As a side note the emc site doesn't seem to have the download for that anymore so not sure where to get it when I reach the point of adding my EqualLogic SANS to OME.
Thanks!

Hello Cameron,
What you will need to do is to install the extra features for storage in OME. Once that is done then you should be able to see the MD1000 & all the drives.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Thanks Sam,
Is that available in the OMSA repo? If so what is the package I will need to install?

Cameron,
OME 1.1 does not enumerate storage data via iDRAC 6 (11th Generation servers). One of the ways to manage MD1000 (attached to PERC controllers) is to install OMSA along w/ storage management (OMSS) on the host server. After installing OMSA, discover/inventory the server in OME using:
SNMP/WMI protocol for a Windows server
WSMAN protocol for a ESXi server
SNMP protocol for a Linux server.
Navisphere CLI is used to manage EMC storage devices. To manage MD3000/3200, discover these MD arrays by selecting "Enable PowerVault MD Array discovery" in the OME discovery wizard. You will also need Modular Disk Storage manager software for receiving traps.
Thanks,
Raj Shresta

I read that wrong :)
I was thinking OMSA but you said Extra Storage Features in OME.
How do I install these?

Thanks for the clarification Raj.
Were can I download OMSS for Linux?
Also where can I download Modular Disk Storage manager software? Should that go on the sameserver as OME?

Hi Cameron.
OMSA comes with OMSS built in. They used to be separate, but now OMSS is part of OMSA.

So just to confirm:
On 11G servers there is no way to see DAS storage through WSMan iDRAC discovery.
The only way to see the DAS storage in OME is through the server IP via SNMP discovery after OMSA is installed.
Does this mean there is not a way for the server to send an snmp trap to the OME server if a DAS drive fails?

Raj - thanks for the info. Is there a way to monitor MD32xx via OME?
Thanks in advance,
TJ

TJ,
Try going to the storage page of the discovery wizard. There is a checkbox for MD arrays. Let me know how that goes.
Thanks,
Rob
