MIB import utility give an error
hi,
I recently updated to Dell OME 1.1 from 1.0.1. Prior to the upgrade the MIB Import Utility was working.
After the upgrade, when I click 'import traps to OpenManage Essentials' I get an error "column name or number of supplied values does not match table definition".
I've tried re-installing the MIB import utility to no avail. I've also noticed that in Dell OME Extensions it has that the MIB Import Utility is 'Not Detected'.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Patrick

Ok,
It looks like the MIB tool did not upgrade. Mine (latest) says 1.1.0.0.
Can you uninstall it and dig around under the directories for the msi and re-run?
thx!

The MIB import utility is version 1.0.64.0. (Dell OME is 1.1.0.6063.)

Hi Patrick,
Cool--a MIB import tool question :-)
Can you just confirm the version number of the tool in the About Box?
Then we will go from there.
thx!

You can look through the extracted zip file for the OME installer. The MIBimport.exe file is the latest installer.
Not sure the latest is on the Delltechcenter.com/ome download. I will look into this.
thx

Thanks for your help. It's sorted now.
I had a different version installed (version 1.1.0, I realise now) and every time a started it no window popped up so I uninstalled it and downloaded the latest I could find from Dell (1.0.64.0, maybe I didn't look hard enough). This gave a window to import and parse MIBs but gave the error above when I tried the 'import traps'.
Thanks to your information I uninstalled the version 1.0.64 and installed version 1.1.0 from the Dell OME package. I did get the same problem of it starting a process but giving no window so I uninstalled and installed it again. This time though, I did a custom install and changed the directory that I was installing to. I then start the MIB Import Utility v1.1 and it gave me a window and import worked fine after that.
I have no idea why this should work but it did.
Thanks for your help,
Patrick

Rob,
All the MIB imports went fine.
We've a couple of older HP servers that we monitor via OME and recently one of the servers started sending unknown severity messages to the OME server. Upon investigation, we needed a more recent version CPQHOST.mib (I'd imported CPQHOST.mib previously). The trap I was getting was
".1.3.6.1.4.1.232 Trap Ids:Generic:6 Specific:11020".

Patrick,
That's great. Keep us posted on how things go with your mib imports. Just out of curiosity, are you importing mibs for switches, other devices, etc.?

Rob

Hi John,
Looks like we didn't update our download link with the latest.
If you look in your extracted OME 1.1 dir/subdir, you can find the MIBImport.exe file. That's what you need.
I'll run off and get the link updated ASAP though.
thx!

I just did this and found it at this location. Not there for you?
C:\Users\ADMINI~1\AppData\Local\Temp\2\windows\MIBImport>

Hi Rob,
I looked at the file I downloaded and extracted it but no import file.
