OMA vs OME and other issues

Hi, first off.....what is the difference between all these products?

I am getting an error when trying to log into OMA, I can access the web GUI usinghttps://hostname:1311, but am unsure what to type in for Hostname/IP address and username and password...

Second, DRAC works very well on servers so that is a server is frozen I can still reboot it / shut it down, etc. using DRAC, is there a way to do this for desktops? We have fairly new Optiplex desktops (790, 980, 990, 9010, etc.)

Any other Dell tools that would be useful?

How do I get phone support for these products?

Thanks

Hi there,

In this forum, we know mostly about OME.  So for OMSA login questions, best to post in the other general sys mgt forum with a post like: OMSA login question, or some such thing.

For Client, try the OMCI page, that is the instrumentation that is used on Opti.  Maybe some of this can be scripted.

But I don't know of a console that does this today (reboot, etc.).  Perhaps the Client whitepaper on the www.delltechcenter.com/ome website, combined with a script would enable you to define a custom OME task to do this(?) not sure.

For the difference between the products.  We created a web page below to discuss the OM product set.  There is also a OM 101 link on that page to discuss some of the products.

Basically:

1. OMSA is for 1:1 mgt

2. OME is for 1:n mgt

3. Repository Mgr is for customizing system update catalogs to your own defined level of compliance

4. OMCI is instrumentation used on Opti/Lati
