OME 1.0.1 installed: Cannot get past splash screen
I now have OME 1.0.1 installed and running. There were no issus with the installation.
However, whenever I bring it up in IE remotely or on the local server, it brings up the splash screen with silverlight status bar and the status bar keeps moving. Nothing ever happens. That is all I get...
Thanks. This sounds like the issue. I am running windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit. When I go to Server Manager> Configuration> Local Users and Groups> Groups - I do not see the groups named OMEAdministrators and OMEUsers. Is this where they should be? I have never seen those groups.
You are looking at the correct location. OME creates OMEAdministrators and OMEUsers groups as local windows groups after installation when it is run for the first time. Administrators are added to the OMEAdministrators group by default.
If you are not seeing those groups, most likely something has gone wrong during the installation. Did you receive any errors? Did you use default or custom install option? The installation logs are located under C:\windows\temp\InstallUtil.log
Since you are not seeing the groups, you may have to uninstall, run regedit and
I would try installing Version 1.1. It was released earlier this week and includes a lot of bug fixes and a lot of new features that I have been waiting for. Since your current deploy does not work I would not upgrade. I would uninstall completely and install 1.1 from scratch. I have had it installed for 2 days now.
I will try a clean install of the 1.1 version. I have to run it through my test bed first. Regarding my setup. I installed using a domain admin. I have (2) other servers with the same setup; They work fine. According to the log file the groups are created. However, when I look in server manager, they are not. I am not seeing any other errors in the log file.
Ok...whichever account you are using should be part of the OMEAdministrators account group. Can you look and see if the account is listed under OMEAdministrators?
I think the OMEAdmin accounts don't get created until the first time the console runs...which is not happening for you. We'll need to get you to open a ticket so we can review the logs (800-945-3355 ). As long as you have local admin permissions on that box, you should be good. So I'm not sure what's up.
The issue is the OMEAdmin and OMEUser groups are not being created. According to the log file they are but they do not appear when I check the users and groups folders. I tried the uninstall, deleting the registry key, and reinstall suggestion earlier. That did not fix the issue.
ah, now this is interesting. DB test failed. Ok, so can you download/install the MS SQL Management studio tool and try to connect to your database (free tool). It will be good to see if you can connect via the MS tool.
Maybe check the OME Event Logs in Windows as well.
I have the management studio installed and can connect to the DB. When I attempt to connect to the named instance using the troubleshooterI receive "Provide a valid IP Address". Nothing exciting in the event logs.

remove this key and anything under it:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Dell Computer Corporation\Dell OpenManage Essentials
and reinstall.

Hi,
Thanks for your post.
Most likely this is related to permissions. You can verify whether the account you have logged on with has been added to OMEAdministrators group.
Take a look at this thread.

There were no errors in the error log or during install. I followed your steps and everything is working now. Performing my first scan.
Thanks!

@jwebster,
What kind of credentials did you install with? Local admin?
Thanks,
Rob

-Tried the IISReset
-Accounts are not locked out
-Custom with a local named instance of SQL
-Troubleshooting Tool will not let me connect to the database. Whenever I try to connect to the named SQL instance it gives me an invalid IP error.

@jwebster,
Chatted around with a few folks and got a couple of other ideas:
- Try an IISReset
- This might happen if the account is a domain account _and_ locked out (assuming not)
- Is this a default or custom install? (remote SQL?) could be a problem logging into the SQL server
- Perhaps you can also try the database test with the Dell Troubleshooting Tool on your OME desktop.
Not sure if all of these apply to your case, but just tossing them out.
