OME install / Prerequisite checker script errors

This product sounds pretty slick but one small problem I am having is I can't even get it installed because the prerequisite checker throws script errors and never finishes (even after clicking Yes, continue anyway).  Two of the errors are shown in the screenshot.  System is Server 2008 Standard, SP 2, 32 bit, IE8 & UAC turned off.

Are you able to access %temp% for that user from the browser window?

When I navigate to globalnav_ms.html file in temp directory and open it in IE I get the same error.  Interestingly enough the error references a 'iepngfix.htc' file folder 'css'.  I don't have a 'css' folder.  My folder structure stops at the 'en' folder under %temp%.

Here is a copy of the error when opening globalnav_ms.html:

Despite the GUI of the checker not working properly, %temp%\omprereq.htm was created with entries.  One error listed was SilverLight.  I installed SilverLight and reran the checker and it's no longer listed so the checker is working.  I just have to open the file myself instead of relying on the GUI.  Once I get through all the errors I will just run the Essentials MSI and see what happens.

They are on a file share of which I have write permissions.  Apparently that's wrong?

Yes, I'm a local administrator and have been right-clicking autorun.exe and choosing 'Run As Administrator' just to be safe.

The install files are on the local hard drive, not a file share correct?

Local admin permissions etc

Yeah.  Looks like you will need to copy them locally.

thx!

Hi,

I have seen that sometime Windows 2008 security feature marks the downloaded ZIP file and its extracted files as unsafe and blocks some of the files to load. You can go to \windows\ManagementStation\PreReqChecker\html\en\globalnav_ms.html file properties and see if it is blocked (you can unblock it) under the General tab.

Or as "Rob C" mentioned above, try to extract it to some other folder instead of default temp location.

Unblocking globalnav_ms.html and logo.html on the file share stopped the script errors, but the window still never displays the results of the check.  There may be additional files I need to unblock or there is some other security getting in the way, possibly in IE considering it generates the omprereq.htm file.  I did allow active content to run from my computer in IE but that didn't help.

At this point I am over it and am going to move on.  Thanks for the help though.  This thread may help somebody get to the root cause in the future.
