3d-mark scores for 9800pro
I use to be able to pull off 15000-ish (3dmark 2001 se) scores on my dimension 8300. For some reason, for the past few months it keeps on slipping... 14000....12000....11000.... i dont think this is normal. Very weird
Any suggestions? I cant seem to locate the problem. Not a thermal problem. Tried changing drivers, but no help. Tried to get rid of system resourse hogs... no help.
Dimension 8300, WinXP Home, 2.6C, 512ddr400 dual channel, 9800PRO, Audigy ES

3Dmark scores don't reflect real world performance. I can bet that you won't notice any different in the framerates of games. Some people need to have high score tho, to feel good. The only sure-to-work solution is a complete reformat of your hard drive. This Inspiron 2650 used to score aroun 1,300 on 3Dmark01se, I had to reformat due to a nasty virus, and now I'm scoring 3,700, so, give it a try ;D

Those who talked bout irrelevance of 3dmarks: I totally agree. Its jus discomforting to see how my score keeps dropping... clearly theres some problem with my hardware or software becuz i can notice it in games too.
However, i dunno if its worth the trouble to reformat n reinstall everything.

Have you tried driver cleaner, old or corrupt driver files can cause major probs...
btw, i also agree about the irrelevance of 3dmark scores, but i'm sure i'd be a bit miffed if my scores dropped by the thousand, obviously a problem wether you can see it in games or not
3dmark and Aquamark are great for keeping tabs on your cards performance :)
Good luck
