Thank you for your questions. I was receiving two beeps (I'm old and hard of hearing), I reseated the two memory chips and still had same problem. I left out the one in the left slot, and the box came up with 4 green lights. When I went to look what was on the display, I discovered my ProScan test monitor would not stay powered up. By then, the 4300 had shut down and the Power on button switch was blinking amber.
Ironically, I was trying to get this old 4300 working so I could test other folks monitors. I quit drinking a year ago, but I'm ready for one now.
Have tried connecting the ProScan monitor to another working computer, to see if there's issues with it?
A blinking amber power button LED, usually indicates the motherboard is not receiving all the correct voltages from the PSU, first open the case and check that all the power connectors are properly connected, by removing and reconnecting them, make certain the 20-pin and 4-pin power connectors are connected to the motherboard and see if this makes a difference.
The Proscan won't stay powered up, so I"ve ordered a new AC adapter as suggested at fixya. Upon closer examination, the lower heat sink retention tab has broken away from the motherboard, so the cpu was not getting cooled. Time for the junk pile I think.
Thank you very much for your help and links Bev...it was much appreciated. You're right, that $50 will go a long way toward a refurbished newer Dell on E-bay.

That's a bummer.
You could replace the motherboard, with another Dimension 4300 motherboard.

But, you need to consider if it's worth investing money into a system as old as the 4300.

Two 'Beeps' does indicate a memory issue, as the system boots with only one module installed,sounds like there's either a bad memory module, or slot.
Sorry, but I have no idea what the left slot is, the slot are either A, or B.
