ATI EEU Client event error every 15 seconds (Vostro 470, AMD Radeon HD 7570)

Question

1) Ever since my Vostro 470 arrived in April, in my Windows application event log I get an error every fifteen seconds - always - from boot to shut down. The error is:

"ATI EEU Client event error"
Application log, event ID: 16388, source: ATIeRecord

2) The driver crashes regularly and Windows has to restart it. The crash seems to happen mostly when Microsoft Office 2013 is animating, such as document scrolling, but can happen at any time and this maybe since I just use Office probably more than anything else. The error in this instance is:

"Display driver amdkmdap stopped responding and has successfully recovered."
System log, Event ID: 4101, source: display, level: warning

I have the latest chipset and ATI display drivers from Dell's website. Unfortunately, that driver seems to be very behind ATI's drivers, it's dated 4th July 2012 - version 8.981.0.0 (but the package itself is dated 2nd March 2013). I have tried getting a newer driver from ATI - but it cannot detect the HD 7570 perhaps because it is an OEM device?? I cannot find any alternative driver.

I am running Windows 8 Pro, 64-bit and using the factory installation. This problem occurred out-of-the-box before I made any changes at all. I'm surprised a Dell desktop can leave the factory in this state. One of the reasons I buy Dell is to feel assured that the PC will at least work, even if it's not a top performer.

Please advise.

Thanks for that. Unfortunately, I have already tried this package and it did not resolve the issue. It installs but does not actually update the display driver on my system (it does not change). The release notes for this package do not state the HD 7570 as supported by this package:

Thanks, however I am running Windows 8. This package does not apply to Windows 8, as specified in the supported operating systems section of the document. The date on it is June 2010 and Windows 8 came out in October 2012.

I have DirectX 11 installed and all tests pass.

All said drivers must be installed as adminstrator and DOTNET 4.0 and 3.5 must be enabled.
You could also install Java 7 U25 and then try the Auto Detect App from AMD. HOWEVER if chipset drivers are not installled PCI-E video and other devices on the PCI bus may not enumerate properly.

Does apply to windows 8 and DOES INSTALL on windows 8.

Directx 9 and 10 and 11 are removed from Vista/7/8 there are years worth of compatibility patches in the Directx June 2010 package.

I understand, what I mean is that there is no point in installing it, as I already have 6.02.9200.16384 (as shown in dxdiag) that came with Windows 8, thus installing this would not achieve anything. That is why Microsoft's documentation states it does not apply. Thanks

I have not yet got a newer driver to install, that is the problem. I do have admin rights however.

I do have dotnet 4.5 (which rolls up 4.0), 3.5 and Java 7 update 25 installed. Curious as to for what you feel they required.

The AMD autodetect does not work. As I said, I have installed the latest chipset drivers too. All devices are enumerated including VEN_1002&DEV_675D (the said video card), clearly they are otherwise I could not tell you what driver version is installed and attached to it.

I don't wish to get hung up on the driver, it may not be the issue. That said, it would be nice to have one that is more up to date, and it _may_ fix the problem.

Thanks again. I have given this a good go. Like the package from AMD, this doesn't see my video card and thus doesn't offer the driver as an option during installation. It does install the Catalyst install manager, but not the driver. After having installed the install manager, I am able to go to the MSI packages directly from within this download and attempt to install the drivers manually but it refuses saying they are not compatible with my system. I have also experimented using compatibility mode, etc. all to no avail.

I have now uninstalled the drivers and gone back to the standard Windows 8 Microsoft driver offering (AMD Radeon HD 7500 Series (Microsoft Corp - WDDM v1.2)). This stops the 15 second error message in event viewer (1), but doesn't stop the occasional crashing (2).

I will continue to experiment this time with the Microsoft driver.

I had the same issue on my XPS 8500. The solution is simple: stop "AMD External Events Utility" service from starting automatically.

Start - Run - services.msc. Right-click "AMD External Events Utility", choose "Properties", choose "Manual" or "Disabled" in "Startup type".

Reboot. No more blasted event 16388.

I'm having the same issue, only when I go into Run - services.msc to  'AMD External Events Utility' isn't there. Instead, I have AMD External Events Client and AMD External Events Services(Unless Services is the same as Utility.)
