Adding a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy FX PCIe 5.1 Sound Card to my Inspiron 3000 Desktop
Hi All,
I plan on buying this sound card (good reviews and price for 5.1 card).

My question is will I be able to remove the (looks like 5 pin connector) from the front I/O Board and connect to this sound cards 5 pin connector so that I could still use the front mic and headphone jack? Any/all replies are greatly appreciated.

For anyone interested, I purchased the SB Audigy FX 5.1 card and was able to connect the motherboard front mic-headphone jack to the card with no problems. This card brought a big smile to my face once installed. For those who say OB sound is just as good as a dedicated card..... I respectfully disagree!

From the looks of the audio pin-out on the MB of the Inspiron 3847 Mid-tower Desktop it looks as though this will work. Can anyone from Dell confirm this and or anyone from the community who may have upgraded from the integrated sound to a dedicated sound card? Thanks in advance!

Thanks for posting this question, then doing all the work, then replying to yourself with the answer. I am in exactly the same situation and I was wondering if the onboard Sound Blaster Audigy PCIe connector was a match for the internal Dell front panel cable.
It looks like it might work, some amazon reviews indicate it should work. Your post here confirms it DOES work.
