Advice please: 4600 Dim or 4700 Dim?

Hey guys, I need some advice. Just from reading a few threads so far, it seems like the 4600 would be a better purchase than the 2400 model I had intended to buy. I also heard that there might be a 4700 model coming out in July. All I really want to do with my computer are the basic functions and burn DVDs and CDs and do it all in a reasonably fast speed. I don't play video games at all.

So, the problem is, I sorta want to buy a computer this summer before school starts. What do you guys advise me to do:

1) Buy the 4600 now, seemigly a proven reliable  model

or

2) Wait until mid-july and take a chance on the newer 4700, with all its possible bugs and problems and all?

What would you all do in my position? Thanks so much!

ohyouvegotgreeneyes.

Personally, I would wait to buy the new D4700, but If you want a proven system at a good price, then buy the D4600.

If you want to see what goes into the 4700, click on the "reference" tab above the messages. Documentation for the 4700 is already available.

The 4700 is more "future-proof", however if you don't normally upgrade system components during its life the 4600 (which costs less -- the new PCIX video cards, SATA drives, and DDR2 memory are more expensive at the moment) or even the 2400 would be better choices.
