Compatible video card for an XPS 8300
I have an XPS 8300 at home and I'm trying to upgrade it to a newer video card, but it fails to post. I've tried 2 brands of AMD RX 460 4GB cards. Both will power on, system powers on, but never posts to the DELL screen. Card is tightly seated, RAM isn't loose, 6-pin is connected, etc. PSU is a 700W so that shouldn't be an issue. I've read that this systems' motherboard is iffy with certain PCI-e 3.0 cards, so wondering if anyone knows a card that would work? I'm don't care if it's AMD or nVidia, just looking at something around the $150 price range like the RX 460 was, maybe a 1050ti. Right now I put the old GTX 460 I have in it and it boots up fine.

Hey man, I recently bought the 1050ti after the rx 460 I bought yesterday failed to post. Seems we have the exact same problem. The 1050ti will arrive tuesday and I will keep you posted. Let me know what you'll next. Thanks!

any reason as to why that may be the case? Have you tried it out or seen others with success with the 1050ti?

The card might be incompatible.

There are others on the forum that had zero issues with 1050Ti, 1060, 1080 etc.

The issue with ATI R series cards is inabilty to do DOS VESA mode 103 and therefore post and BIOS setup NEVER happens.
Sapphire support is less than helpful on this issue.

Well then it sounds like the 1050ti will (hopefully) work on my xps 8300 system. Thank you for your reply. I will keep this thread updated so it can hopefully help another user. Earliest will be Tuesday which is when I get my 1050ti but school and work will probably get in the way.

Okay card arrived sooner than expected and I managed to install it today. The EVGA NVIDIA 1050ti is confirmed working on my Dell XPS 8300 with A06 BIOS and 0Y2MRG motherboard. Hope this helps others!

You're welcome! The 1050ti runs great on my system and I hope it does for yours as well! Easy installation and runs games very smoothly so far though I haven't gotten to testing very intensive games yet. Let the thread know how your experience goes!

I recommend this card for most Dells. Its a MINI ITX version so it fits into systems with short slots.

Thanks for keeping us up-to-date on this!! I will totally give a 1050ti a try. Luckily both MicroCenter and NewEgg have these on sale right now!
