Computer sound card to TV Suround Sound Reciever
I need help figuring out how to connect my Sound Blaster Live 5.1 to my dolby digital capable audio reciever. My audio reciever accepts optical in and coaxial in. The sound card I am using has a digital out port (but it is not optical, or coaxial). I went to radio shack the other day and got a convertor that allows me to plug one side into the digital out into my sound card and the other out lets me plug a coaxial cable into my reciever. After I checked digital out in the sound preferences it worked. But I was only getting stero sound. I made sure it said 6 speakers becuase My suround sound has all the speakers needed for suround sound but it is not working. Can somebody please tell me what I am doing wrong.
To summerize
Soundcard has digital out
Hometheater reciever has coaxial input
Got convertor for sound card where I can plug a coaxial cable into the digital out spot.
Reciever is only getting stero sound.
It should be getting 5.1 suround.
Please help!!!
