Connecting Power Supply to HardDrive

Just a general question. I was wondering if there is any difference if you connect your hard drive to a molex that runs off the rear fan, as opposed to connecting to a molex that runs directly from the power supply? Is either method OK? Thanks.

are you saying that your fan has a 2nd molex connector which is identical to the ones on the power supply??

Yes; exactly right.

might be better off to run it from directly from your psu..no point in overloading your fan cables plus you'll probably get more juice direct

Either should work just fine.

Ok thanks for the replies. I think I may just plug directly into the psu if I have the unused molex;not that I doubt your answer Bev! I don't have the computer in front of me. Thanks again..

Mike Lambed.

Thanks for the feedback, in my "Beverly Builts" when I install additional case fans, the fans have a four pin Y power splitter, I connect this to either the optical or hard drive, power supply.

Intresting that you used a AMD XP "Barton", the last system I built, used a ABit NF7 motherboard with a AMD XP 3000 "Barton"
