Dell 530 - GeForce 210 support
I'm trying to re-purpose my Dell 530 as a TV tuner PC. I need my TV to become a monitor for my Dell 530. The connection needs to be HDMI for high definition. Currently there is a Asus AD-RV610LE video card in the PCIe x16 slot and this works fine. I just purchase a GeForce 210 card from new egg. The Dell beeps once and restarts when the GeForce card is installed.
* Is there some incompatibility with the Dell 530 PCIe x16 slot?
* Is there a bios update I need to support the GeForce 210?
* Does The Dell 530 support PCI Express 2.0 x16?
* Is there a different video card you can recommend that will work in the Dell 530 PCIe x16 slot?
Here is some additional information:
The Dell is running win 7 64 bit with Media Center (but never gets to start win 7)
The TV tuner card is Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2250 PCI Express TV Tuner for Windows (it is not currently installed when the beeping occurs)

I tried a NVidia card in my Vostro 220s (similar to the 530) and it didn't work properly. A Sapphire 6450 did work, however, and it features an HDMI port.

I upgraded the Bios of the Dell 530 desktop. The GeForce 210 caused a constant hardware restart loop. I returned The GeForce card to Newegg and bought a Sapphire HD6450 card with a HDMI port. I was able to get past the Hardware restart loop and into windows 7 64bit using the DVI connection to a monitor but there were more problems.
* Booted the Dell 530 using the HD6450 DVI port - worked! then connected the HDMI to the TV; worked!
* Booted the Dell 530 using the HD6450 DVI port and the HDMI port - failed. Tried different HDMI cable-Failed.
* Booted the Dell Pavilion using the HD6450 HDMI port to my TV- worked!
* Booted the Dell 530 using the HD6450 HDMI port only - failed!
* Went into the Dell 530 BIOS and changed the video from PCIe to PCI prefered; booted with HDMI cable only - failed. The VGA connector is covered because the 530 ships with a ASUS video card in the PCIe slot. There is no Bios field that disables the VGA port.
My goal was to boot with only the HDMI port connected to my Sylvania 6626LCT TV. I wanted to use MS Media Center to play video recordings that were scheduled and recorded by Hauppauge WinTV digital antenna tuner.
I had tested every combination I could think of and Sapphire was ready to refund my card purchase.
I decided to test with a different TV and a different HDMI interface. I found that the Sylvania 6626LCT TV HDMI port is incompatible with the Sappire HD6450 HDMI because the Dell 530 would always stall going into win 7 and give me a blank screen. It works fine with a Vizio TV HDMI port.
