Dell Dimension 3000 graphics card
Hello again. My project is coming along nicely thanks to you guys! Here's a pic of my system. http://www.dell.com/support/troubleshooting/us/en/04/Index?c=us&l=en&cs=04&t=warranty&servicetag=GZ3PL71
Here's what's changed: 2 gigs of ram, 160 gig WD caviar blue Pata hard drive
Going in today is a 3.4 ghz Pentium 4 processor and new heat sink with fan on top of sink. Bios updated to A03 per Gordie.
Here's my issue: In order to upgrade to Windows 7 32 bit I need to upgrade my graphics card. What do I buy?
Thanks again for any help. So far this rebuild is going very smoothly. Got windows XP loaded and got the updates to SP 3. Its running like a champ. New case cooling fan is effective and QUIET. The heat sink and fan assembly with a new CPU should help as well. Hope all of you are having a nice Thanksgiving!

The Dimension 3000 only supports a PCI [not a PCI Express] video card.

I would suggest, the SPARKLE 700020 GeForce 8400 GS 256MB 32-bit DDR3 PCI HDCP Video Card.

The Sparkle seems to be the most cost-effective choice for a DX9-compatible card.

Maybe I'm giving you the wrong info. To run Widows 7 on this machine. Here's what the scan reported when I ran it to see if it was compatible.
Intel(R) 82865G Graphics Controller - not compatible - The driver for this device is not compatible with windows 7
Does this mean the Graphics card isn't compatible or that I need to download a different driver?
Don't mean to sound stupid but I'm learning here:emotion-42: Thank you!

I believe Windows 7 will install, but without DX9-compatible graphics the Aero interface will be disabled. To enable it, you need a DX9-compatible graphics card like the Zotac GT610 or the Sparkle 8400GS. The Zotac is more expensive but more modern; the Sparkle is cheaper and adequate. Both have native HDMI.
Stay away from AMD-based PCI cards, as they're intentionally crippled by the drivers.

I second Zotac 610GT, also other Dell users recommended this card.
