Dell Dimension E520 - GPU Upgrade questions
Hi, I've recently broke my video card (By burning out the person I spoke too said) and the video card is a Nvidia GE Force 7300 LE, which is a :
BIOSTAR VA5552NHG1 Radeon HD 5550 1GB 128-bit DDR2 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card
And right now I have a : Nvidia GE Force 7300 LE, PCI 1.0 x 16 DDR2
Sorry for the lack of information, I no nothing at all in computers, all I want is a powerful video card for my sons video games. Will this fit in my system?
Specs :
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6300 @ 1.86GHz (Rated at 3.33GHZ), 4GB of RAM, Windows 7 Ultimate - Thanks, hopefully this fits. If gaming is the goal, I'd suggest something like this: www.newegg.com/.../Product.aspx
It's much more powerful, and after the rebate, close in price.

Yes, but my computer is DDR2 and not DDR5 so it is not compatible, right?

Video memory is independent of system memory, and that card should work. I am using a 6450-based card (GDDR3, PCIe 2.1) in an old Socket 939 (DDR 400, PCIe 1.0) without problems. In fact, the main reason I've kept the 939 around is to use it to test new products for compatibility with older machines.

Best performance comes from GDDR5 video cards.
Recommended card for Gaming that Fits in to MOST Dell Models including Desktop and SFF is
SAPPHIRE 100357LP Radeon HD 7750 1GB 128-bit GDDR5

a less expensive alternative would be an HD 6570

Hi, sorry to hijack your thread, I am looking for some help relating to your posts. I would like to buy a graphics card for my husband for Christmas and was pointed in your direction by a Dell worker, he said that the Asus AMD Radeon HD 6670 Graphics Card (1GB, PCI-Express, GDDR5, Dust-proof Fan) would be suitable. Looking at your discussion it sounds good and the revies on Amazon were good too but when I looked on PC Advisor they didn't give it very good reviews. Do you know if it would cope with the newer COD games please? I would be really grateful for any help, thanks Lizzie

Hi, thank you very much for your help, I have ordered a Sapphire HD 7750 1GB GDDR5 DVI Micro HDMI Mini DisplayPort PCI-E Low Profile Graphics Card from Ebuyer, it was the closest I could find in the UK, hopefully this will be as good and will work with his old PC. (I read the reviews and am pretty sure it will). Do you usually have to buy the cables separately and if so do you know what I would need? Thanks again, Lizzie
