Dell Optiplex GX280 upgrade
Hello everyone
i have a Dell Optiplex GX280 with an Intel Celeron D 2.53ghz / 256 / 533 / 04a and i want to uprage with Intel Pentium D 820 2.8ghz / 2m / 800 / 05a. Is that possible? does the motherboard support this processor?
I've changed the processors, and when i turned on the computer, the processor fan started running very fast, and blew up. Do you think it has anything to do with the processors or i might have done something wrong?
Thanks

The Optiplex GX280 does not support any dual core/Pentium D processors, you can use a P4 hyperthreading processor, see HERE
Note: Prior to installing the processor, update the BIOS to Version A08, with Version A07, added support for newer processors was added.
