Dell Precision 470 cpu upgrade?

Just picked up a 470, looking to upgrade the cpu in it. Finding information on it is tiring since I'm on dial-up (no high speed in my area). It came with a single 2.8 ghz xeon with ht. I read that the 470s support dual core. What dual core cpus will this mb take and which single core? I've found the 2nd cpu kits on ebay as well as the voltage regulators but not sure which xeons to be lookings for any help is appreciated.

Hi, looking at Dell and Intel documentation it seems that this model has an 800 Mhz bus and is unlikely to support Dual Core processors. I suspect these were first used in the 490/690 Precision. I would look at processors in the same series as already fitted to the WS.

The 470 will only take a dual core Xeon (SL8MA) if you have version 0XC838 off the motherboard and version A07 of the BIOS. Been there, done that. Running two of them. :emotion-2:
