Dell S2340L Monitor
My dell monitor is turning off and on with green color display. It is not that old, probably more or less 1.5 years. I am using it as my extended screen for my MAC. I have tried replacing my HDMI cable but nothing has changed.

Hi Tux_Dictumst,
Here are the manuals for that monitor. Let me suggest you start troubleshooting this issue by running the self-test, which is described in the user's manual. It also describes the diagnostic procedure.

Thanks for the reply, however the page provides a tool for windows machines. I am using a Mac with OSx Mavericks OS.

I'm sorry but perhaps you're looking at the wrong section of the user's guide. On page 38 is the self test, which involves disconnecting the monitor from the source. At that point, you can run the diagnostics. Neither of these requires a Windows-based PC.

I tried the self test but the problem is not stated on the usual problems and the self diagnostic test did not help. The problem is the monitor turns on and off and changes in color.

Does the monitor turn on and off during the self test? If so, I suspect the monitor has a hardware issue and probably needs to be replaced.
