Dell SK-8135 USB Enhanced Multimedia Keyboard

1) Am I able to assign different actions to the shortcut keys at the top? E.g. Mail, computer, and calculator buttons...

2) The only audio buttons which work are the Mute button and the Open Player button (which opens Winamp). The Stop, Rewind, Forward, and Play/Pause buttons don't work. How can I get these to work?

Thanks.

Try TweakUI, which is part of Microsoft's XP PowerToys:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

You'll need to go to Explorer->Command Keys in TweakUI after installing.

If you want to use the media control buttons with just Winamp, try these plugins. The first is easier to set up as it's ready to go after you install it. The second one needs some work to get it set up properly. Nothing I've found so far works with the volume knob though.

Awesome, thanks for the links! I forgot to mention the volume knob works... but it controls the OS sound, not Winamp.

Edit: Just wanted to confirm that it works nicely. For others who may be interested, just download the Winamp plugin at http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=78516, extract to the default folder, and restart Winamp. As far as I could tell, there's no configuration needed. (Just ignore the fact that it says it's for the Logitech keyboard.)

Bought a used Optiplex GX620 on eBay. I just installed a fresh copy of Dell's XP Pro w/ sp 2, etc. I plugged in the 8135 keyboard that came with it and everything works. All buttons, volume knob, etc. No extra drivers were installed.

Hello, I have the same problem since a while now.
Thanks for having found the solution but I have a problem : the link at winamp seems dead. Could you please send me the plugin at : gwendal.lanneau.wanadoo.fr ?
It will be great.

Thanks

This is rather annoying!!!
I like the feel of this keyboard, but I have just upgraded form a microsoft multimedia keyboard, and it allows you to use the hot keys to control multiple functions.
Maybe I'll have to get myself a g15 in the future.

Could somebody help? I am using this keyboard on a system running Windows 2000. Everything works fine except for the volume knob...it turns the volume up but will not turn it down.

I was using the keyboard, but the rest of the buttons did not work.

I was using XP however.

I ran this program http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=142585 (can be found at link) and it sorted out the media controls for winamp.

It may work.

Thats the best I can do.

This keyboard is ok, but a bit cumbersome.

I got over it, bit the bullet and bought a logitech G15 gaming keyboard.

It reigns  Supreme!

It also works with Cad etc, which is awesome.

You can using macro recordings to record steps eg to open a command "trim" you record T R I M ENTER, and assign it to a key.

Press the key once and bang.

SOrry that is a little off your problem.

but on the plus side I think Dell might sell the G15! :)

Heres some shots.

Hi,

I have Win2K on a rather old optiplex, and I tried to use this keyboard.  The same thing with the volume - it turns up but not down.  Anyone fix this yet?

Hi!

Has anyone found a solution for the Windows 2000 problem in the mean time? Just as others, I'm able to turn up the volume with the volume knob, but I cannot turn it down.

It would be quite cool, if someone had a solution...

Thanks a lot,
Alexander
