Dell System Detect will not install on Dell 8500

I cannot get my Dell 8500 to install the Dell System Detect so that I can find out what the problem is with my computer.  I get an error message: 

See the setup log file located at 'C:\Users\Patricia\AppData\Local\Temp\VSDECDB.tmp\install.log' for more information..  What should I do?

System Detect isn't going to diagnose or fix any problems. So why mess with it? If you really want System Detect, navigate to the file "install.log" in the folder you mentioned in your post and open it with Notepad for more info on why it failed to install.

Better to start a new thread that mentions the exact PC model (XPS or Dimension ?) 8500, the version of Windows running and what problem you're having. Somebody may be able to help without bothering with System Detect.
