Dell T7500 won't power up
Hello All:
T7500 System, just off 3-yr warranty. :(
When the power button is pressed:
1. The power button blinks amber then goes blank.
2. The hard disk led remains on, steady.
3. The numbered led(s) are all blank.
4. The fans are spinning.
5. Cannot power-down the system holding-down the power button.
6. Unplugged all external peripherals, same results.
7. Removed video card and hard disk, same results.
FWIW, the neighborhood had a windstorm that disabled one leg of the three-phase power entering the office building. The overhead lighting was said to be surging, bright to dull. The servers, switches, ds-3 circuit and gateways are powered through a on-line double-conversion UPS, so they were isolated. Anyway, it looks like a coin-toss, the main-board or power supply.
Any comments or ideas? Thanks!

The system has been moved to a workbench, so power cord, yes.
I will try the CMOS jumper after lunch. Thanks!

Is there another power supply to test in it? Have you disconnected the power cord, removed the CMOS coin cell battery, then reinstalled it and tested? Did you do the CMOS jumper?
* Disconnect the power cord
* Locate the 4-pin password connector (PSWD)
* Remove the 2-pin jumper plug from pins 3 and 4
* Locate the 4-pin CMOS jumper (RTCRST)
* Move the 2-pin jumper plug from the password jumper to pins 1 and 2 of the CMOS jumper
* Plug in AC power to the system and wait ten seconds for the CMOS to clear
* Move the 2-pin jumper plug back to pins 3 and 4 of the password jumper
* Replace the computer cover

Okay, tried clearing the CMOS via the PSWD jumper, and the system state has changed.
Now when the power button is pressed:
1. The hard disk led is on, steady.
2. The numeric led #1 and #3 are both on, steady.
The system hangs right there. No output to the video card or panel.

Oops, forgot about the power button led status. So currently:
1. There is no power button led, blank or off.
2. The hard disk led is on, steady.
3. The numeric led #1 and #3 are both on, steady.
The system hangs right there, and no output from the video card or panel.

Problem solved; it was the power supply.
I found another workstation where the user is on holiday leave, and robbed their power supply. Now to source another one before the holidays are over.
