Dell XPS 8700 Desktop

Bought my son the aboved mentioned computer, it has 2 HDMI ports, one is connected to the monitor, the other one states it is an integrated video connector. Can anyone please tell me what is this used for?

Does your 8700 have a discrete graphics card? if yes, the integrated graphics connections are not used and disabled by design.

Take a look at the quick reference guide:

ftp.dell.com/.../xps-8700_Setup%20Guide_en-us.pdf

On page 2, all of the connectors on the back of the computer are identified -- except for those from a dedicated graphics card.

#18 and #19 are graphics connectors if you do not have a dedicated (aka discrete) graphics card.

the slots indicated by #21 are where a discrete graphics card would be installed and if so the video output on the graphics card is used and the integrated connections are disabled.

hope that makes sense.
