Dell inspiron 530 compatable with intel core 2 duo processor?

Just a note in addition to Robin's good information; you will also need to worry about supported FSB speed and possibly the size of the L2 cache.  The on-line specs are silent about these characteristics.  If the selected processor doesn't have the correct FSB speed it will not run at its rated speed.  If the main board does not support the L2 cache size it may not run at all.  Hopefully one of our fellow members who is knowledgeable in this area will respond.

The 0RY007 motherboard supports Core 2 Duo processoers.

The Wolfdale Core 2 Duo, E8500, 3.16GHz, 6MB, 1333FSB, 65W, processor will work fine in the Inspiron 530.

Prior to installing the processor, check that you have BIOS Version 1.0.15, when support for new Intel CPU's was added.

Please note, the 0RY007 motherboard does not support Core 2 Quad processors, for the Quads, you need a different motherboard and at least a 350w PSU.

Hello people, Since im not a genius with computers (only trying to be) i don't know if my computer supports the intel e8500 core 2 duo. I've searched but i couldn't find any forum that really said YES (maybe i haven't read it right). My motherboard is a 0RY007 and i have a  p35/g33/b31 chipset. Right now i have a Intel Pentium E2140. My english is not that good i'm from holland, MrTheFastFender

The NL version of the Inspiron 530 manual says:

L2 cache: ten minste 512 KB pipeline-burst, eight-way set associative, writeback SRAM

According to the specs, the E8500 has a 6 MB L2 cache and a 1333-MHz FSB.

The manual <ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell> (NL) says the 530 supports:

Intel® Core™ 2 Quad processor

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor

Intel® Pentium® Dual-Core processor

Intel® Celeron® processor

It also says you have a G33 chipset which supports the processors listed here

I notest that the 8500 that i want to buy is EO.

I'm running speedfan and CPUID Hardware Monitor and they both say that temp1 (don't know what that is) is 85 celsius (183 Fahrenheit). Speedfan also says that temp3 is -60 C but that one is not included in CPUID. I just replaced the processor so i'm not really sure what happened because core0 is 28 C and core1 is 30 C which should be ok. I think 85 C is far to much and my computer should crash in a minute if that is important. I also red that there could be a problem with the sensors but i don't know what happened. I'm not the only one with this problem. Does anyone know if this is a serious problem or just a software failure?

I have installed an Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 in my Dell Dimension 530 with 0RY007 (G33M02) motherboard and it is running fine.
