Dell logo flashing on boot up

I have a fairly new new Inspiron 660 and in the last couple of days on boot up the Dell logo has begun flashing rapidly before it then appears to go normally to my sign in screen. Apart from that it everything appears normal, but can anyone offer a reason for this new phenomenon and should I be worried about it? The pc is only 3 months old so presumably still under guarantee. Thanks for any help.

Hi Bagshot,

That's a new one! I've not heard of nor have I seen a flashing Dell logo. Unfortunately, the manuals are momentarily offline but when you get a chance, I would go through yours. It can't hurt to call tech support and ask about this.

Thanks for your reply Osprey, but after a bit of playing around starting and restarting the pc it looks like the pc is ok but the monitor is the problem. When the monitor is cold I get the flashing Dell logo which then doesn't re- occur when restarting the pc. However when the monitor isn't on for a while it must cool down and the flashing occurs. I also have another logo on the screen which identifies whether I have a digital or analogue signal, and this I've discovered also flashes so I now believe the monitor is faulty. Thanks for your help. I apologise for the formatting of my two posts. I cant find any setting which enables the post to arrive in the same condition as it left my pc!

No problem. That sounds very much like a power inverter problem in the monitor. Not difficult or expensive to fix.
