Dell to remove Raid Option on 7010 to support with XP not Commercially bases
Hi all,
Dell company knows a lot that most of machine uses win XP , Dell on most computer latest of 2013 removed many option hardware and software, on software removed raid option to support ATA that can eneble to install win xp which is stable in our machine, only satrt to support window 7, in hardware, parallel port no longer exisist and serial com port.
i have the problem, my problem is :- Software Ds7 for Triaxial and digital shear machine from ELE internation UK support only Win XP I have already bought 3 computer to support my application , i noticed that when installing win XP crash on the way where I decided to find the solution to Dell technician I come to dissapointed after read that no longer support RAID option now I am in dilemma because i cannot return to shop, and only one push factor to buy Dell Optlex 7010 is because have serial port option which run machines. How to solve this critical problem. Is this for commercial ? Why dell company decided to develop only USB while many machine still need pareller port and serial port?

Legacy ISA ports aren't supported by Any vendors anymore. This is a Microsoft Decision. 5 years and older systems have this as an option Optiplex 755 etc. There are no vendors that will guarantee compatibility for 40 years and up. Serial Ports go back to the 8088 IBM PC and MSDOS from 1981.

if that case how to help who suffer from these changes, My take to disable Raid Option causes many troubles for win XP users

You are asking for support for non dell products. XP is near End of Life and will not be supported on new models. Optiplex 755 models that came with XP are still available in the refurbished market.

Here is how you can have XP SP3 running on AHCI.
- Fresh install: install XP with BIOS in ATA mode. Install all drivers afterwards...
- Existing image, f.e. Optiplex 760-780 image: load image, switch BIOS to ATA ...
... then reboot XP in safe mode (F8), BIOS still in ATA mode
Go to device manager, find IDE/ATA ATAPI-controllers section.
Get the Optiplex 790 "Pre-OS" driver, INTEL_RAPID-STORAGE-TECHNOLO_A07_R291720 from the Dell site and unpack it.
Manually replace controller driver, only for the second lower in the list, leave the bottom one.
Browse to unpacked driver, select iaStor. Choose Intel (R) Desktop/Workstation/Server Express Chipset SATA AHCI Controller.
System asks for reboot, do so. While rebooting, change setting in BIOS to AHCI.
Boot XP in safe mode again, it will detect the new controller and ask for a reboot (ignore all other missing driver messages). Reboot.
Boot XP in normal mode, the SATA controller should be in place. Install other drivers (chip, vid, net, aud etc.)

XP does NOT SUPPORT AHCI Natively. You must F6 install from FLOPPY. There are EXTREMELY Limited options to do this and Newer INTEL Chipsets DO NOT SUPPORT XP. This WILL NOT BE AN OPTION EVER with many Newer Systems.

it meand i will not use my machine or i have to purchase old one for i have already purchase 7010 without notice cahnges over win xp which is compatible with my machine.
