DellTouch Volume keys are slow after Windows XP

My system arrived with Window ME and the DellTouch programmable volume keys worked great. They quickly changed the volume. After upgrading to Windows XP, these keys still change the volume but they are very slow. How can I make them go faster.

I downloaded the latest driver for DellTouch from the Website but there was no change.
