Dimension 3000 no system sounds
I have a dimension 3000 and there is no system sounds. It is fitted with the soundblaster card from new.
All other sounds are working fine, i.e. media players etc.
If I go into the sound scheme menu and test the sounds they play ok.
Any Idea's

None of the system sounds are playing, new email, windows startup, windows close.
When I go to the sound sound devices and select windows default, a menu list of all sounds come up. I can select one and use the test button and the sound plays just fine. In normal use no systems sounds are heard, I have tried turning my speakers up to full volume to see if there is any slight sound but nothing at all.

Pardon me for butting in, but see if anything here helps you:

The interesting part was about new user accounts having the proper system sounds - luckily it would appear to be a fairly simple registry fix.
