Dimension 4700 Power Supply

i have a dimension 4700 computer with a 305 watt power supply.  i have the radeon X300 card and am looking to get the Radeon X800 pci express card but it says the card needs a 300 watt power supply.  i am wondering if i need to upgrade my power supply or if its fine the way it is. if i need to upgrade it just wondering what kind of power supply will fit in my desktop.  any help would be appreciated please. thank you

The existing power supply should be fine. If you need more, most standard units will fit, but you must choose one with a 24-pin (BTX-format, not ATX) connector and that has SATA power cables on it (or you'll have to buy a power converter for each SATA drive).

Your power supply is fine. Nothing's going to get fried so get the video card and enjoy.

Will any addition cooling be needed for the x800 card?  Or can the x800 run with no problems in a basic dimension 4700?

hey man i went ahead and put a 400 watt power supply in with my card.  i got the radeon X800.  everything is working great.   just make sure if you do get a power supply get one with BTX like the last guy said in the post.  other than that the graphics look crispier.  when you get the card go to your display settings and turn 3D on to notice any changes.  hopes this helps

nope i got the power supply from comp usa.  its Mad Dog brand super power.  cost around 80 bucks or so.  they had antec there which is a better brand but didnt have it in BTX format which i didnt see otherwise i would of gotten that.  if you see antec get that brand.  if you have problems installing the new power supply let me know if you get it

I got the x800 and all is well.  It is running fine without the upgraded power supply.
