Dimension 5100 BIOS update A02 now correctly sets RAM speed as well

Apart from the listed Fixes and Enhancements for A02:
1. Add support for newer processors
2. Provide proper messaging when unsupported memory configurations are used
3. Add support for flashing from read only drives
4. Removed dialog pop-ups from flash program when -NoPause option is used
5. Add PCI BUS resource reservations for USB 2.0 and ACPI
6. Add os install robustness for native and combo modes
the new A02 BIOS also sets the RAM to the fastest settings commonly supported by all RAM modules.

Version A01 set my RAM to 3-4-4-9, A02 now it sets it correctly to 3-3-3-9.

Unfortunately it doesn't make a noticable difference....

Regards,

Paul

That is because RAM timings and their impact are highly exaggerated by enthusiast sites, most of the benchmarks they show are hardly scientific and not often realistic. Many are run without sound cards installed or enabled usually with no apps installed; hardly real world conditions.
