Dimension 8400 & 670 CPU

I really want to buy the intel pentium 4 670 cpu for my dell dimension 8400. I am using the 650 now with no problems, my original cpu was 3.0. The diference with the 670 cpu is the wattage. I have a new, special power supply, which is far better than the original dell. I tried a 570 cpu, and i got super fan noise and no boot, that is 3.8 and same wattage as the 670. When I tried the 570 - 3.8, it was with the old and now dead power supply.

Can anyone tell me for sure that the 670 will work with my system? What does the wattage difference mean? Will my improoved power supply make the difference or will the mainboard will not be able to handle the increase in wattage?

Wattage for 670 is 115, but the cpu's I had no problems with are 84.

I would really like a direct answer. If more info is needed, I will post cpu-z info, like id on mainboard...etc
