Dimension 8400 Fan Specs for CPU

Most of us know that the CPU fan in the Dimension 8400 systems are noisey, is there any fans from other Dell systems with the special 4 pin plug that are quieter or run slightly slower?

No, Dell use a proprietary fan/shroud unit, if you use a non-Dell fan, you will have a "fan failure, press F1 to continue" error message at every boot up.

What about a 92mm 4 pin fan from a Dimension 9100,9200 series system? or are those plugs different also?

Never tried using a 9100/9200 fan in D-8400, so I can't help you.

I have 2 D-8400 systems and both case/processor fans are whisper quite, unless there's a hardware problem and then they sound like jet engines.
